Learn about Nebraska’s invasive species during awareness days

Nebraskans are inspired to find out about invasive species after Gov. Jim Pillen signed a proclamation Might 13 designating consciousness days for the state.

“We’re grateful Gov. Pillen has shared how important it’s to stop invasive species throughout our state,” stated Jena Paugels, Aquatic Invasive Species Biologist for Nebraska Sport and Parks. “Invasive species have an effect on each Nebraskan, and it’s our responsibility collectively to stop their unfold to guard our wildlife and our state’s financial system.”

The notice days, beginning Might 26, will provide alternatives to find out about Nebraska’s invasive species and their influence on the state.

The proclamation was submitted by Nebraska Sport and Parks Fee in partnership with the Nebraska Invasive Species Council.

“Partnership amongst businesses and with the general public is our best weapon in opposition to invasive species,” stated Shannon Smith, Nebraska Invasive Species Council coordinator. “We wish each Nebraskan to comprehend that they’re a part of the answer on the subject of invasive species and to assist defend the pure areas we love.”
