In October of 2019, a New Jersey bowhunter killed a bear weighing in at 700 kilos. That bear has held the state document ever since. That’s, till this season, when 39-year-old Brian Melvin dropped the string on large New Jersey black bear that simply broke the earlier document and claimed the spot as the brand new state document black bear within the Backyard State. Melvin’s bear weighed in at a hefty 770-pounds!Â
Melvin says he’s been watching, scouting and getting access to hunt the bear during the last 3 years.Â
